1.11% 3/6-month, 1.16% 1-year CDs at CSE Credit Union
CSE (Connecticut State Employees) Credit Union has a number of competitive short term CDs available. Their 3-month and 6-month CDs are yielding 1.11% APY, and their 1-year CDs are returning 1.16% APY. The certificates have a minimum deposit of $500. Those CDs aren’t available as IRA CDs, but CSE Credit Union does have an 18-month IRA CD returning 1.31% APY and a 3-year CD that yields 1.66% APY, both with a $500 minimum.
CSE Credit Union is primarily open to employees of the State of Connecticut. CSE CU has seven locations, all in Connecticut: one branch each in Hartford, Middletown, Norwich, Newington, Southbury, Storrs, and Woodbridge.
2.65%+ 1-year IRA CD at Thomaston Savings Bank
Thomaston Savings Bank has a good short-term for investors looking to start or roll-over an IRA: Their 1-year IRA CD is yielding 2.65% APY. This IRA CD has a $1000 minimum. Even better, however: If you have $100,000 to deposit, the rate goes up to 2.75% APY.
Thomaston Savings Bank has eight branches, all in Connecticut: Two in Thomaston, and one each in Harwinton, Middlebury Terryville, Waterbury, and Watertown.
CDs up to 3.77% at Torrington Savings Bank
Torrington Savings Bank is offering some decent rates on long-term CDs. Their 4-year CD is yielding 3.67% APY, and their 5-year CD is yielding 3.77% APY. Both CDs have a minimum of $1000, and both CDs are available as IRA CDs. They’re also offering a 1-year CD that’s returning 3.00% APY.
Torrington Savings Bank has six locations, all in Connecticut: Three in Torrington and one each in Burlington, and Falls Village, and Goshen.
9-month, 4.04% CD at First New England FCU
First New England Federal Credit Union has a competitive 9-month CD they’re offering: This short-term CD is yielding 4.04% APY. To get this rate, you must have an “Advantage” account with First New England FCU; otherwise, the rate drops 0.25%. This CD has a minimum of $10,000. First New England FCU is also offering an 18-month CD at 3.78% APY with the same “Advantage” and minimum deposit requirements.
First New England Federal Credit Union is open to residents of Vernon, as well as a number of employer and association groups. In addition, anyone can join the credit union by paying $12 ($7 for those age 60 and older) and joining the Friends of the Lucy Robbins Welles Library.
First New England FCU has three branches, all in Connecticut: East Hartford, Newington, and Vernon.
Short-term CDs up to 4.25% at Sovereign Bank
Sovereign Bank has two competitive short-term CDs available. The first is a 9-month CD yielding 4.00% APY, and the other is a 1-year CD yielding 4.25% APY. Both CDs have a minimum deposit of $500 and a maximum of less than $500,000. Soverign Bank also has a high savings rate available: Their Money Market Savings Account is yielding 3.75% APY for amounts $75,000 or greater and yielding 3.00% APY starting at $25,000.
Sovereign Bank has 750 branches throughout the Northeast, including over 30 branches in Connecticut.
